One Man Orchestra brings the flavours of the famously illusive project as well as the aptly named, fresh musical endeavour “Westerby”.
For the past few years, Thomas Westerby has fronted the production and musical direction of One Man Orchestra, with the co-creator, Morten Granau, opening the project further to the international stage through his DJ sets.
Westerby embarks on a bigger venture down under, presenting One Man Orchestra in its purest form, blending the epic original productions with the flow and finesse famed by their Symphony podcast series.
The orchestral narrative of the highly acclaimed Symphony podcasts explore the deepest caverns of eclectic progressive, techno and house. Inspirational journey’s comparable to that of One Man Orchestra themself, bringing One Man Orchestra fame in curation of the never-ending chasms of underground sounds.
As arguably Iboga Records’ most iconic deep tech artist, One Man Orchestra has been a key feature amongst their many acclaimed compilations, additional to their own highly acclaimed EPs “Turn The Crank” and “Karplus Strong”. The One Man sound has graced the French Inlab Recordings and Australia’s Bassic Records, through which their remix of Doppel & Ken Zo has become one of their best selling releases.
With a focus on intricate melodies and deep exotic tribalism, the Westerby project experiments with the synergy between acoustic instruments and mechanical synthesizers whilst exploring progressive with a uniquely invoking tendency.
In the Westerby project’s short time in existence, releases have already graced some of Germany’s and Europe’s most respected imprints of deep vibrations: Get Physical, Kittball, 3000Grad, Chapter 24 and Lost Diaries. The releases bring forth his collaborative nature, developing the EPs in partnership with Djuma Soundsystem and Seth Schwarz, leading to inspiring results.
Whilst harbouring a niche sound, Westerby’s music is proving widely enjoyed. Westerby and Djuma Soundsystem’s remix of Tube & Berger’s hit “Fetzen” [Kittball], hit #2 on the Beatport Afro House Charts only 24 hours after release, sizable support has been shown for their releases from international tastemakers When We Dip and Deep House Amsterdam.
Across his years of performing, Westerby has proved as a resilient component of Denmark’s club scene, captained floors to the corners of Europe and driven the dance journeys of festivals from Norway’s Sehr Schøm to Australia’s Rabbits Eat Lettuce and the famed Rainbow Serpent Festival Market Stage alongside Danish progressive legend Phaxe.
